The Supreme Court in Abuja has dismissed an appeal filed by Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, challenging the leadership of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The court ruled on Monday, ordering the governor to pay a fine of two million naira to the Assembly and the Assembly Speaker, Ikuinyi-Owaji Amaewhule.
A five-member panel, led by Justice Uwani Abba-Aji, passed the judgment. The case was withdrawn by Fubara’s lawyer, Yusuf Ali, leading to the dismissal.
Details of the case and the court’s reasoning will be made available later.
This development comes amidst ongoing political dynamics in Rivers State, which has seen several legal challenges regarding the governance and leadership structures within the state.
