Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has praised the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State for the successful conduct of its local government congresses across the state’s 16 councils, describing the exercise as a testament to the party’s commitment to inclusiveness, fairness, and internal democracy.
In a statement issued on Sunday, September 21, 2025, by his Press Officer on Local Matters, Abdulganiyu Abdulqadir, Saraki said the congresses positioned the PDP as a credible alternative to restore good governance in Kwara and Nigeria.
Saraki highlighted the maturity and responsibility displayed by delegates, aspirants, and party stakeholders during the congresses, noting that the peaceful outcome reflected the PDP’s national character and resilience.
“The PDP has once again shown that it is the party that provides a level playing field and prioritises the will of the people,” he stated.
“I am confident that with this renewed energy and unity, the PDP will reclaim its rightful place in providing quality leadership for Kwara State.”
The former Senate President also commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies, and the media for ensuring a credible, transparent, and orderly process.
He urged the newly elected local government executives to view their roles as a call to service and to collaborate with stakeholders to strengthen the party’s grassroots structure.
Saraki described the success of the Kwara congresses as a significant milestone, not only for the state PDP but also as a signal of growing public confidence in the party nationwide.
“The success recorded in the Kwara congresses is a win for the party in the state and a signal of the growing confidence of Nigerians in the PDP as a party of hope ahead of the 2027 general elections,” he said.
With this momentum, Saraki expressed optimism about the PDP’s readiness to challenge for power in 2027, leveraging its unity and commitment to democratic principles to deliver quality leadership.
