In a move to cement Lagos as Africa’s premier commercial powerhouse, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced a strategic partnership with the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) to develop a state-of-the-art World-Class Convention Centre.
Planned for the bustling Lekki-Epe corridor near the emerging Alaro City, the facility is envisioned as a central hub for international trade exhibitions, mega-conferences, and global business summits.
Representing the governor at a courtesy visit Obafemi Hamzat welcomed a delegation from the LCCI, led by their newly elected 44th President, Leye Kupoluyi.

Sanwo-Olu emphasised that this project is a critical pillar of his administration’s THEMES Plus agenda, aimed at transforming Lagos into a 21st-century economy.
“The Lagos State Government is ready to work with you to build a facility that strengthens our position as Africa’s leading investment destination,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
“This will not only attract global events but also boost local businesses and enhance investor confidence.”
To ensure the project moves from blueprint to reality, the Governor directed the LCCI leadership to work closely with the Ministry of Commerce.
He stressed that while the “passion and support” for the initiative are strong, seamless coordination between government and private institutions is vital for success.
Beyond infrastructure, the partnership will extend to the Agriculture and Food Systems sector.
With Lagos consuming a massive volume of agricultural products daily, the LCCI signalled its intent to help strengthen local production.
Lagos is currently operating on a five-year and fifteen-year agricultural development roadmap as part of its long-term planning.

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) will partner with the Ministry of Food Systems to leverage their proactive initiatives and strengthen food security.
The Chamber also aims to support increased production in the state’s hinterlands to help stabilise supply and demand.
Kupoluyi commended the state for maintaining an enabling environment for businesses.
He noted that the chamber and the government share a “common destiny” in positioning Lagos as the heartbeat of West African commerce.
The engagement also served to reaffirm the “Renewed Hope Agenda” with Kupoluyi stressing that continuous collaboration is necessary to drive the changes needed in leadership and governance for a thriving economy.
