The Rivers State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man in connection with the brutal killing of a woman in Etche Local Government Area.
The suspect, identified as Kingsley Chinamezu, popularly known as Power Sharp, allegedly murdered his girlfriend, 44-year-old Miss Confidence Sunny, on 30 July 2025 at Umuebule community.
Reports indicate that the victim was attacked with a machete during a domestic dispute.
According to the Force spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, the suspect fled the state after the incident and took refuge in Egbeta village, Edo State, where he allegedly continued to issue threats to members of the victim’s family.
Acting on a formal complaint and intelligence reports, the Commissioner of Police (CP) Olugbenga Adepoju, directed the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU) to track down the fugitive.

The operatives successfully traced him to his hideout and effected his arrest on 15 August 2025.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime and provided further details surrounding the circumstances of the killing. Investigators are also probing whether he has links to other violent offences.
In a statement, CP Adepoju commended the swift action of his men, stressing that Rivers State would never be allowed to become a sanctuary for criminals.
He assured the public that the suspect would be charged to court once investigations are concluded.
The Commissioner also issued a stern warning to individuals engaging in violent acts, cautioning that the police remain resolute in pursuing offenders and ensuring they face the full weight of the law.
