A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has called on Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, to immediately dismiss all officials appointed by the recently departed Sole Administrator during the Governor’s six-month suspension from office.
Governor Fubara returned to the Rivers State Government House on Friday, following a six-month suspension imposed by President Bola Tinubu, a decision that attracted widespread condemnation across political and civil society circles.
During the Governor’s absence, retired Admiral Ibok-Ette Ibas, who was appointed as the Sole Administrator, made several key appointments to state positions. Eze, a former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP), argued that these appointments were illegitimate and should not be recognised by the returning Governor.
“I expect the Governor to sack all the appointees of the illegal Sole Administrators and ensure that nobody imposes any individual on him as Commissioner or aide,” Eze stated. He further claimed that even the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, had pledged not to interfere with Fubara’s appointments.

In a statement released to the press, Eze also advocated for the reinstatement of all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who had either resigned or aligned with Governor Fubara during the political crisis.
“For peace to reign, all members of the State Assembly that either resigned or worked with Sim Fubara must be reabsorbed by the State Assembly,” Eze added.
Furthermore, the APC chieftain urged President Tinubu to offer public assurances of support and protection to Governor Fubara, warning of possible future attempts to undermine his leadership through impeachment moves orchestrated by what he termed “funny members” of the Assembly.
“The Governor must be assured that he is not being set up for further embarrassment by the funny members of the State Assembly through any impeachment move, failure to do this, the Governor should invoke his full powers as the Executive Governor of the State,” Eze warned.
