The House of Representatives Constitution Review Committee is set to hold a major legislative forum on national security architecture today, in partnership with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
Titled “Nigeria’s Peace and Security: The Constitutional Imperatives,” the high-level dialogue will be hosted at the National Counter Terrorism Centre in Abuja, under the auspices of the ONSA.
In a statement issued yesterday, the House spokesperson Akin Rotimi, said the event would bring together senior figures from the country’s security sector, including the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu; Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa; Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; Director-General of the DSS, Oluwatosin Ajayi; and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed.
Participants will also include legal scholars, policy specialists, representatives from civil society groups, local leaders from conflict-prone areas, and members of the National Assembly.
The dialogue forms part of the legislature’s broader initiative to confront Nigeria’s deepening security problems through constitutional amendments.

Central to this is House Bill 617, which seeks to introduce state policing and overhaul the current structure of law enforcement in the country.
Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu, who chairs the Constitution Review Committee, will lead the proceedings.
The Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, is expected to deliver a goodwill message, while President Bola Tinubu, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief, is billed to deliver the keynote address.
