The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Policy, Sunday Dare, has provided clarity on why the Federal Government cannot reveal full details of the operation that secured the release of 38 abducted worshippers from Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
In a post shared on his X handle on Tuesday, Dare said rescue missions are complex and depend on the collaboration of several security units, local intelligence networks, and strategic planning.
“The process of securing or freeing victims of kidnappings is often a complicated one involving several steps and multiple security personnel, even local intelligence,” he said.
He explained that while the safety of victims and arrest of the perpetrators remain top priorities, operational details are deliberately kept away from public view. “The full details of such operations are never disclosed in full. It’s a security matter,” Dare added.
Dare commended security operatives for recent rescue efforts in both Niger and Kwara states and assured that those responsible will be prosecuted. “We salute recent efforts by our security team in the Niger and Kwara incidents and know that perpetrators and the kidnappers will soon be arraigned to face the law of the land,” he said.
His comments follow Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s announcement that all 38 abducted persons had been freed. According to the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, President Bola Tinubu played an active role in coordinating the mission, even postponing a G20 summit trip to South Africa to focus on security operations in Kwara and Kebbi states.
“The governor says this is wholly due to the hands-on approach of President Bola Tinubu, GCFR, who has personally led the efforts to free the abductees,” Ajakaye stated.
Dare’s remarks emphasize the need for authorities to balance public expectations with operational confidentiality, assuring Nigerians that security agencies are working professionally and that the kidnappers will face justice.
