President Bola Tinubu has authorised the deployment of four ambassador-designates, selected from the 68 individuals confirmed by the Senate in December last year.
The move comes as part of efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic relations amid ongoing international engagements.
In a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the postings include Ambassador Ayodele Oke, who will represent Nigeria in France.
Colonel Lateef Are has been designated as ambassador to the United States of America, a key ally in economic and security matters.

Additionally, Ambassador Amin Dalhatu, previously Nigeria’s envoy to South Korea, has been appointed as high commissioner to the United Kingdom.
This role underscores Nigeria’s longstanding ties with Britain, focusing on trade, education, and diaspora affairs.
Rounding out the appointments is Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman, a former governor of Kebbi State, who will serve as ambassador to Turkey.
The timing is notable, as President Tinubu is set to embark on a state visit to Turkey next week, where discussions are expected to cover bilateral trade, investment opportunities, and regional stability.
The President’s memo to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs instructs officials to inform the respective host governments in line with established diplomatic protocols.
This step ensures a smooth transition and formal accreditation for the new envoys.
These appointments reflect President Tinubu’s administration’s priority on enhancing Nigeria’s global footprint, particularly in light of economic challenges at home.

With Nigeria facing inflation and currency fluctuations, stronger international partnerships could facilitate foreign investment and aid.
The Senate’s confirmation process last December had vetted a broad pool of candidates, emphasising merit and national representation.
As the ambassadors prepare for their roles, attention turns to how these postings will influence Nigeria’s foreign policy agenda in the coming months.
