The Rivers State Police Command has recovered the lifeless body of the Managing Director (MD) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Rivers State Cassava Project Limited, Mr. Gibson Reuben, an expatriate from the Netherlands.
The police spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, said the deceased, Mr. Reuben, lost control and crashed into the river at Aleto Eleme Bridge while trying to evade a kidnapper’s attack from unknown gunmen at approximately 8:30 pm on Monday.
Meanwhile, the white Toyota Hilux van he drove, also submerged in the river, was also recovered by Command’s Marine Unit.
Iringe-Koko notes that the Mobile Police personnel who accompanied Reuben escaped from the attack.”The recovery of the body and vehicle brings a sombre end to the rescue efforts,” she noted.

During visitation, the Commissioner of Police (CP), Olugbenga A. Adepoju, condemned the attack, describing it as very barbaric, and promised to fish out the perpetrators as justice must be served.
