Following the tragic attack that occurred in Uromi, Esan North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, a police officer in Kaduna State, Hadaina Hussain Dan-Taki, on Tuesday vowed to retaliate against southerners living in northern Nigeria.
The incident in Uromi, which took place on Thursday, reportedly claimed the lives of sixteen northerners who were said to be en route to celebrate Sallah when they were ambushed by a mob.
In a comment posted on Facebook, the police officer incited violence by suggesting that northerners would take drastic action against southerners residing in the North.
He wrote: “I swear to Almighty God, we must do something to you guys. Have you forgotten all your brothers living here? Mark my words—in a month, or even after a week—you will see the result.”

Due to the threat, an X user, Uchechukwu Ogbonna, alerted Prince Adejobi, Abuja police spokesperson, as he wrote, “Take care of this, sir,” while sharing screenshots of the post.
Recalled that after the mob searched the vehicle, guns were found and jungle justice was launched. Since then, the act has spiked widespread reactions as citizens call for the arrest of perpetrators.
The state governor, Monday Okpebholo, and President Bola Tinubu have condemned the attack.
Meanwhile, reports noted that about 14 persons linked to the attack have been transferred to Abuja for questioning.
