Effort to traffic arms and initiate some new members into a cult group known as Aye Confraternity, the security operative in the Anambra State Police Command has apprehended three suspected gang members.
At around 8 pm, the police operative attached to Anaku Divisional Headquarters during a stop-and-search operation along Anaku/Omor Junction on Sunday intercepted eight suspects riding on motorcycles.
As the search continued, they all took to their heels. Immediately, the police swung into action and went after eight of them. After a long chase, out of the eight suspects, three were apprehended.
The three male suspects are Okafor Chibike, Ekene Lucky Nwadigbu, and Godwin Osaz. They are all residents of Omor.
Items recovered and confiscated during the operation are one locally made double-barrel gun, one locally made revolver pistol, one dagger, three Android phones, one motorcycle, and four ATM cards.

Although the police spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga noted that combined efforts are ongoing to arrest the other absconded members.
In similar operation, on 1 February at approximately around 7.43 pm, security operative attached to Awgbu Divisional headquarters intercepted three cultist suspects in a tricycle during security screening operations at Eke Awgbu junction.
The three suspects are Chidera Nwochia, aged 20 from Amiri Orlu, Imo State; Chizurumu Elvis, aged 23 from Mbano, Imo State; and Kosisochukwu Obiechina, aged 21 from Agukwu Nri, Anambra State, in a tricycle.
Items found on them include one 7.62mm live ammunition, one black axe, a gallon of substance suspected to be a hard drug, a local pot, white and red cloth with NBM and number 7 inscription on it, some pieces of red and white clothes, and candles.
Tochukwu stated, “During interrogation, the suspects confessed to being members of the Black Axe Confraternity and were en route to their initiation ground. The police also recovered the tricycle, which was conveying the suspects to the venue of their initiation.”
However, it is noted that all six suspects will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigations.
