The Edo State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the disturbing bullying incident that occurred at Igbinedion Secondary School in Edo State.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Eno Ikoedem, the command confirmed that “the Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, has directed the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area to proceed to the school and commence a detailed inquiry into the matter”.
Although Igbenedion Secondary School, in a press release, stated that the students involved in the bullying incident have been expelled, the Edo State Police Command emphasised that the investigation will proceed nonetheless.
The Police Command assured the Nigerian populace that the “perpetrators involved in the bullying incident will be arrested and made to face the law accordingly, in line with their respective ages and in accordance with the provisions of the law”.
The police further condemned bullying, violence, and intimidation among students and warned that anyone found guilty of these vices will be punished according to “the provisions of the law”.
The Command, then, urged members of the public to remain calm and assist investigators by providing credible information that can aid the ongoing investigation.
