The Rivers State Police Command, through the C4I Strike Force operatives, has apprehended a 23-year-old, Emmanuel Godwin, for the abduction and defilement of a minor (name withheld).
This was relayed to journalists by the Rivers State Police Command spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, on Friday.
Iringe-Koko revealed that the suspect was apprehended at approximately 3:20 a.m. on 2 April, at Chinda Street, Ikwerre Road, during the C4I Strike Force routine patrol along the Casablanca Axis, GRA Phase 2.
Further details disclosed that the suspect was found in the company of the minor at 11 Nwogu Martins Street, located in Chinda, Ikwerre Road, Port Harcourt.
However, during interrogation, the arrested suspect confessed to the crime, revealing that the minor had been detained in a room where three other suspects also engaged in unlawful acts with her for over a week.

The police spokesperson, stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the other fleeing suspects, affirming that the 23-year-old suspect will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Iringe-Koko reiterated the commitment of the state command to ensuring the safety and security of all residents within the state.
“Further updates on this case will be communicated in due course,” the spokesperson added.
