The Lagos State Police have apprehended Shamsideen Adio, a prominent figure in the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), in connection with two separate violent incidents.

According to a police statement from Deputy Police Public Relations Officer Babaseyi Oluseyi, Adio is accused of seriously injuring a dispatch rider on Lagos Island.
The victim, who was reportedly struck with a helmet and fists, is currently hospitalised and receiving oxygen.
Police also revealed that a murder charge stems from a separate incident on August 28, 2025.
During a dispute, Adio allegedly attacked another man, repeatedly hitting him in the head and face with a metallic ring.
The victim died on September 17 despite receiving medical treatment.
Following the man’s death, tensions escalated, leading to protests at Adio’s office on Lagos Island.
The unrest led sympathisers of the deceased to set two of Adio’s motorcycles on fire.
In response, the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, deployed a police contingent to the area to restore order.
