The Rivers State Police Command, through the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, has arrested five suspects in connection with the tragic murder of the Chief Security Officer (CSO) of the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium, Richard Timothy in Omagwa and his son, Silas.
Recall that on February 4, 2025, the wife of the CSO and mother of the late UNIPORT student had called for the arrest of the perpetrators.
Due to several kidnapping incidents in the Rukpokwu, Igwuruta, Omagwa, and Etche areas, an intelligence-led operation was carried out on 8 March. The operation, which began at about 9:30 a.m., lasted for eight hours.
In a document shared with journalists on Tuesday, the spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that the apprehended suspects confessed to the crime and multiple kidnapping activities.

The operation also led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, six AK-47 magazines, sixty-six rounds of ammunition, three locally made pistols, ten live cartridges, and several mobile phones and SIM cards.
The suspects have been identified as Mohammadu Bello, 30, from Padiki LGA of Kwara State; Suleman Umar, 26; Adamu Musa, 30, both from Hadeja LGA of Jigawa State; Bello Amadu, 35, from Keffi-Hausa LGA of Jigawa State; and Abubakar Mohammed, 22, from Azare LGA of Bauchi State. All the suspects reside in Rukpokwu.
Iringe-Koko stated, “The suspects are currently in police custody and are cooperating with investigators. Efforts are ongoing to uncover details of other crimes committed by the syndicate and to arrest others still at large.
“The Rivers State Police Command assures the public of its unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents. Further updates on this investigation will be communicated in due course,” she added.
