The Lagos State Police Command has declared a comprehensive restriction of vehicular movement across the entire state from 3:00 AM to 3:00 PM on Saturday, July 12.
According to the police, the declaration was to ensure the peaceful and orderly conduct of the forthcoming Lagos Local Government Elections.
This restriction will apply to all roads and waterways within the state’s jurisdiction.

The announcement outlines strict security measures aimed at preventing disruptions during the polls.
Armed escorts and security aides are barred from accompanying individuals to polling units or collation centres.
Similarly, the use of sirens and vehicles with covered number plates has been prohibited.
Vehicles belonging to quasi-security outfits and state security agencies are also restricted from operating on election day.
The police emphasised that no state-owned security agency is authorised to take part in election security duties, in line with the Electoral Act.
Exemptions to the movement restrictions apply only to essential service providers, such as emergency medical personnel and their teams.
Officials of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), accredited election observers, and media practitioners covering the elections will also be permitted to move freely, provided they have valid LASIEC accreditation.
To ensure proper identification, all authorised security personnel and other stakeholders, including media and election observers, must have and visibly wear their LASIEC-certified identification tags throughout the election period.
