The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has announced the convening of its 101st National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, set to take place over three days from Wednesday, 23rd July to Friday, 25th July 2025 at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.
The announcement was made public through an official statement posted on the party’s verified X (formerly Twitter) handle on Tuesday, signed by the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba.
The statement served as a reminder to all distinguished members of the NEC to prepare for the meeting, emphasising the importance of full attendance to discuss pressing party matters ahead of the next election cycle.
The PDP’s NEC, a key decision-making organ, is composed of a wide range of senior party officials and influential political figures as stipulated under Section 31(1) of the PDP Constitution (amended in 2017).
This includes the party’s national chairman; serving and former presidents and vice presidents of Nigeria who remain party members; the chairman and secretary of the Board of Trustees (BoT); all other BoT members; and principal officers of the Senate and House of Representatives affiliated with the party.

In addition, the NEC includes a maximum of 18 serving senators and 24 members of the House of Representatives, strategically spread across the country to represent the party’s diverse interests.
All sitting state governors who are PDP members, members of the National Working Committee (NWC) including their deputies, and all state chairmen are also expected to participate.
Further expanding the NEC’s membership, the party recognises six ex-officio members; all former NWC members who remain within the party fold; all former principal officers of the National Assembly produced by the PDP who are still active members; as well as all former PDP state governors who maintain their membership status.
This triennial meeting offers an opportunity for the PDP’s leadership to strategise on party policies, electoral strategies, governance issues, and internal organisational matters.
With general elections looming, the NEC meeting is seen as a critical platform for aligning the party’s vision and mobilising its stakeholders toward reclaiming political ground at federal and state levels.
The party’s leadership has encouraged full participation from all members to ensure robust discussions and collective decisions that will shape the PDP’s trajectory in the coming years.
