The Oyo State Police Command has announced the arrest of a robbery suspect and the recovery of a stolen motorcycle in the Olorunda Aba area of Ibadan.
The operational success, which occurred on Christmas night, is part of the Command’s intensified efforts to combat violent crimes across the state.
On December 25, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., operatives from the Olorunda Aba Division responded to a distress call regarding an ongoing robbery at the Adanla Area, Eniosa.

Two armed suspects, wielding machetes and riding an unregistered motorcycle, had reportedly intercepted and dispossessed two victims—Mutiu Adeyemo and Akinpelu Ojo—of their TVS motorcycle while they were heading home.
Upon the arrival of the police patrol team, the suspects attempted to escape using both their original motorcycle and the newly stolen one.
A high-speed pursuit ensued, during which the first suspect abandoned the stolen motorcycle and fled into a nearby bush, where he remains at large.
The second suspect, identified as Sunday Onah, fell from his motorcycle while attempting to evade the police and was subsequently apprehended.
During a preliminary investigation, Onah reportedly confessed to the robbery and admitted that he and his fleeing accomplice had a history of involvement in similar criminal activities within the area.
The stolen TVS motorcycle was recovered and is being held as an exhibit.
The Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, praised the operatives for their professionalism and swift response.
He has since directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a more comprehensive investigation to ensure all members of the criminal syndicate are brought to justice.
