Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has conveyed his deep appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for the appointment of General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS).
Oluyede, who hails from Ikere-Ekiti, was previously serving as the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) until his elevation to the top defence position, an appointment that was recently announced by the Presidency.

In a statement released yesterday by his Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode, Oyebanji hailed the appointment as a positive development, thanking Tinubu for recognizing the exemplary qualities of the Ikere-Ekiti-born General.
Oyebanji described the new CDS as an embodiment of the core values, courage, integrity, and loyalty, for which the people of Ekiti State are known.
He expressed strong confidence in Oluyede’s ability to succeed in his crucial new role, noting his proven track record and high degree of professionalism throughout his distinguished military career.
The governor urged Oluyede to leverage his extensive experience and expertise to provide a new direction for the military, especially during what he termed “this critical period.”

“The government and the people of Ekiti State are grateful to the President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu for General Oluyede’s appointment. We wish him success in this new assignment and pledge our unalloyed support for him,” the governor stated.
