Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has affirmed that the state airport project was a collective decision made by the state’s leaders and stakeholders to foster development and connect the state to the world.
He made this known while speaking at an event celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Chief Imam of Ado-Ekiti, Sheikh Jamiu Kewulere Bello.
Oyebanji clarified that the airport project, which received a six-month non-scheduled flight approval last December and is awaiting approval for commercial operations, was not a unilateral decision.

He noted that the airport committee was chaired by the esteemed Aare Afe Babalola, underscoring the broad consensus behind the initiative.
The governor also spoke on the state of federal roads in Ekiti, expressing gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his support.
He announced that the Federal Government (FG) has awarded contracts for the rehabilitation of three of the six federal roads in the state.
One of the federal roads, the Ado-Ikere-Akure road, is nearing completion, while the state government has also completed repairs on another.
Oyebanji urged citizens to be patient, assuring them that construction work on the remaining two federal roads would begin soon and that his administration would continue to invest in road and power infrastructure to boost the economy.
Oyebanji congratulated Sheikh Kewulere Bello on his 40 years of service as Chief Imam, describing him as a good ambassador for both the state and the Muslim faith.
He praised the Chief Imam for his commitment to promoting peace and unity.
The governor also acknowledged the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Ekiti, Rev. Emmanuel Aribasoye, for his collaboration with Muslim leaders, which he said has fostered peace and unity among different faiths in the state.
