Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, conducted an on-site inspection of flood-affected areas in Ondo town on Sunday, following recent torrential rainfall that led to significant flooding.
According to a statement by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Ebenezer Adeniyan, the visit was aimed at evaluating the extent of the damage and implementing swift, targeted interventions to aid the affected communities.
During the visit, Governor Aiyedatiwa was accompanied by the Commissioner for Environment, Niyi Oseni, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, Hon. Olayemi Adeyemi, who provided detailed briefings on the situation.
The governor expressed deep concern about the hardships endured by the vulnerable communities and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to implementing long-term solutions to mitigate the risk of future flooding incidents.
“We are deeply concerned about the challenges these floods have caused, and we are already working to ensure that affected areas receive immediate relief and long-term solutions,” the governor said.
Governor Aiyedatiwa assured the affected communities that his administration is committed to prioritizing the rehabilitation of flood-prone areas and expediting the completion of ongoing water channelization projects.
He also urged residents to refrain from practices that exacerbate flooding, such as obstructing drainage channels with waste.
