Members of the Ondo State Farmers’ Congress have officially endorsed Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the upcoming gubernatorial election on November 16.
The endorsement was announced on Friday at the Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Arcade in Akure, during the unveiling of a 10 billion naira mixed-use housing project and the inauguration of the Congress’ new executive members.
Farmers from all 18 local government areas of Ondo State expressed strong support for Governor Aiyedatiwa’s leadership, applauding his significant contributions to the state’s agricultural sector.
In his remarks, Monilari Abayomi, President of the Ondo State Farmers’ Congress, praised the governor’s dedication to agriculture, noting his progressive policies that have driven innovation among farmers.
Abayomi cited key achievements under Aiyedatiwa’s administration, including the establishment of one of Africa’s largest goat-breeding facilities, which has positioned Ondo State as a leader in sustainable animal farming and created employment opportunities across the region.
Abayomi also highlighted the importance of the newly unveiled 10 billion naira mixed-use housing project, which aims to provide essential infrastructure, including community centers and training facilities, to further support farmers and boost productivity.
Announcing the Congress’ commitment to mobilize 150,000 votes for Governor Aiyedatiwa, Abayomi expressed confidence that a full term for the governor would ensure the continuity and growth of Ondo’s agricultural sector.
In response, Governor Aiyedatiwa thanked the farmers for their support, emphasizing his administration’s respect for the agricultural community.
He recognised the vital role farmers play in ensuring food security and strengthening the state’s economy, assuring them that their contributions would always be valued.
The governor outlined his administration’s ongoing efforts to support agriculture, including rural-urban road projects across all three senatorial districts to facilitate farmers’ access to markets and ease produce transportation.
He pointed to further initiatives, such as investments in storage facilities, mechanized farming, and affordable inputs, all designed to enhance productivity and bolster food security.
Governor Aiyedatiwa urged the farmers to turn out en masse on November 16 to vote for continuity, emphasising that a renewed mandate would enable his government to sustain and expand developmental projects across the state.
