First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has inaugurated the nationwide rollout of the “Flow with Confidence Menstrual Hygiene packs” a critical health intervention aimed at empowering schoolgirls across the country.
Speaking at the launch event in Gombe yesterday, Mrs Tinubu described the initiative as vital for promoting knowledge, dignity, and confidence through improved menstrual hygiene management.
She stressed the urgency of the problem, stating, “In today’s modern world, no girl should have to miss school because of her inability to afford sanitary products.”

She highlighted the unacceptable challenge faced by girls in rural communities who miss school monthly, using unsafe alternatives, or dropping out entirely due to a lack of affordable sanitary pads.
“This trend must end,” Mrs Tinubu declared, noting that the intervention falls under the Education framework of her Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
She announced that 10,000 packs of disposable sanitary pads will be distributed to every state and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) via the State First Ladies and RHI Coordinators.
This support is specifically intended for girls in rural communities who cannot afford the products.
At the Gombe event, she presented 10,000 packs to the state First Lady for distribution to 10,000 deserving girls, with each beneficiary set to receive a one-year supply of pads.
She also charged traditional, religious, and community leaders to ensure the packs reach the intended recipients.
In response, both the Coordinating Minister for Health and Social Welfare, Ali Pate, and the Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, pledged their support, promising to work toward making more supplies available to girls in rural areas.
Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, commended Mrs Tinubu’s generosity and her various interventions in health, agriculture, economic empowerment, and education.
