The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ola Olukoyede, has emphasised the fundamental importance of data in all personal and professional activities, stating that “data is actually about life.”
Olukoyede made this assertion on Friday in Abuja during a courtesy visit by the President of the Chartered Institute of Statisticians of Nigeria (CISON), Goddy Ebuh, at the EFCC corporate headquarters.

Olukoyede elaborated on the value of figures and data, noting their direct impact on daily existence.
“Your health status is confirmed through data. You want to sleep, you calculate how many hours you need to sleep and sometimes you time yourself, when to wake up. You schedule yourself for the day on a timely basis.
“That’s how important data is to national and human development. I want to extend our hand of support to all that you are doing,” he said.
He expressed the commission’s readiness to back CISON’s activities.
However, Ebuh stressed the need for a collaborative relationship between the two organisations.
He suggested that the EFCC would benefit from becoming a corporate member of CISON.
Ebuh highlighted potential areas for synergy, including leveraging the EFCC’s support in organising competitions for CISON’s student members and undergraduates.

“We need to partner together and synergise. The EFCC needs to be a corporate member of the Institute. We need to support and work with the EFCC,” he stated.
