The General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), Dr Daniel Olukoya, has cautioned that 2026 will be a fast-paced, unusual and spiritually demanding year, urging nations, churches, families and individuals to embrace righteousness, discipline and intensive prayer to avoid confusion and calamity.
Olukoya gave the warning on Thursday morning at the church’s Prayer City along the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway during the 2025 crossover service into 2026. The service, which ushered worshippers into the New Year, was themed “My Year of Great Deliverance and Fresh Glory.”
According to the cleric, the new year will carry over many unresolved spiritual and societal trends from 2025, requiring believers to adjust their spiritual strategies. “2026 will be another flying year—very fast, strange, and troublesome. Prophetically, the trends of 2025 will flow into 2026, and we must re-strategise spiritually,” he said.
Olukoya described the year as one of contrasting outcomes, marked by both positive and negative surprises. He said the righteous would experience divine favour, while those who reject righteousness would face difficulties. “It is a year of surprises—good surprises for the righteous and bad surprises for the unrighteous,” he declared.
Speaking on global and national issues, the MFM leader said the “mighty hand of God” would be evident across many nations. According to him, countries that uphold righteousness would experience stability, while those that abandon moral values would be plunged into confusion. He also warned of divine judgment against betrayal, disloyalty and moral compromise.
The cleric added that churches would not be exempt from spiritual scrutiny, warning that unethical practices within religious institutions would be exposed. He further urged believers to pray against strange disasters, including fire outbreaks and explosions, which he said may not always have natural explanations.
Olukoya also raised concerns about what he described as intensified efforts by negative forces to influence children, calling for focused prayers to protect young people. Despite the stern warnings, he assured worshippers that 2026 would also be a year of restoration, divine recompense and supernatural lifting for committed believers.
He warned against prayerlessness, describing it as dangerous in the coming year, and encouraged Christians to engage in consistent fasting, prayer and what he termed “solution-driven evangelism”. He also advised believers to avoid fear and anxiety, practise self-discipline, strive for excellence and remain spiritually sensitive.
Quoting the Bible, Olukoya said 2026 represents a season of divine intervention capable of producing lasting breakthroughs. He concluded by urging Christians to remain grounded in the Word of God, live holy lives and enter the New Year with faith, discipline and unwavering commitment to righteousness.
