The Ogun State Government has appealed for calm and patience from motorists and residents commuting along the Abeokuta–Sango Ota Road corridor as reconstruction work continues.
The appeal was made by the State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Ade Akinsanya, in a statement yesterday.
The commissioner acknowledged that certain sections of the road have become treacherous and slippery due to the combination of ongoing earthwork and persistent rainfall, and he urged all road users to exercise caution to prevent accidents.

Akinsanya also highlighted that the current casting of concrete pavements along parts of the Ewekoro axis has necessitated the closure of those sections and the implementation of traffic diversions.
He reassured the public that the government is dedicated to rehabilitating the road and ensuring its full functionality.
However, he explained that the recent continuous heavy rains have hampered the pace of the construction work.
Despite the slowdown, the commissioner reaffirmed the government’s commitment to completing the project swiftly.
According to Akinsanya, the contractor is currently focusing on critical sections of the road, including Obada Oko, Ilese Awo, Onijanganjangan, and Ewekoro, among others, to improve driving conditions and accessibility.
The commissioner stressed that although the Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway is a Federal Government, FG, road, the state government has taken the initiative to reconstruct it.
He explained that this intervention, aligned with the state’s people-first policies, aims to alleviate the difficulties faced by commuters, reduce traffic congestion and travel time, and prevent the loss of lives and productive hours.
