The Ogun State Government has suspended Oba Abdulsemiu Adewale Ogunjobi, the Olorile of Orile-Ifo, for six months over conduct deemed unbefitting of a traditional ruler.
In a statement on Monday, the Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Communication and Strategy, Kayode Akinmade, stated that the suspension was necessary to uphold human dignity and preserve the sanctity of the revered traditional institution.
According to The New Daily Prime, the monarch was captured in a viral video assaulting Chief Arinola Abraham Love.

Following the incident, both the monarch and his victim were invited for questioning by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
The suspension was deemed imperative due to the king’s reckless utterances and public misconduct, which were widely circulated on social media and in public discourse.
After a thorough investigation, the monarch was suspended and stripped of the paraphernalia of the Olorile-Ifo stool pending the determination of his culpability in the matter.
The decision was made by the Ministry in collaboration with the Egba Traditional Council, per Section 52(1) of the Obas and Chiefs’ Law of Ogun State, 2021.
