The Ogun State Government on Monday sealed off Asoludero Court, the Conference Hotels, and its annex in the Sagamu Government Reserved Area (GRA), properties owned by former Governor and serving Senator for Ogun East, Otunba Gbenga Daniel.
The move followed a quit notice issued last Friday by the Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority, which cited violations of the Ogun State Urban and Regional Planning and Development Law No. 61 of 2022.
According to officials from the Authority’s Sagamu Zonal Office, the buildings failed to comply with planning regulations and were lacking appropriate permits. Fresh sealing and demolition notices were pasted on the gates and walls of the multi-billion-naira establishments around mid-morning on Monday.
The sealing notice, dated 11 August 2025 (S/No 00047312), stated that the properties were being sealed off following previous notices of contravention, stop-work orders, and quit notices, which the owners allegedly failed to respond to.
“Your development/property is hereby sealed off forthwith preparatory for its demolition… The Authority will not be liable for any loss suffered by you,” the notice warned.
A separate demolition notice (S/No 00048262), also dated 11 August, gave the owners three days to remove the alleged contraventions or face demolition at their expense.
The former governor, however, has pushed back, alleging political vendetta. Otunba Daniel previously accused Governor Dapo Abiodun’s administration of misusing the 2022 planning law to target his properties, many of which, he claims, were built before the law came into effect.
“This action is not only politically motivated but a blatant disregard for due process and the rule of law,” Daniel stated.
The development has sparked political tension in the state, as observers await the government’s next steps and the Senator’s legal or political response.
