The Ogun State Government has clarified that it is unaware of any official action to seal properties belonging to former Governor and current Senator representing Ogun East, Gbenga Daniel.
At a press briefing held at the Governor’s Office in Abeokuta on Monday, Commissioner for Urban and Physical Planning, Mr Tunji Odunlami, addressed the issue, stating that the notices served on the properties in question were not sealing orders but stop-and-quit notices. These notices, he explained, are intended to prompt property owners or their representatives to report to the appropriate offices for document verification and clearance.
“What we are doing now is no exception,” Odunlami said.
“This exercise was carried out in Abeokuta and is now extended to Shagamu and Ijebu-Ode. It will also be conducted in Ota and Ilaro, especially in Government Reserved Areas (GRAs).”
He emphasised that the state government follows a clearly defined process for any enforcement action, starting with physical markings on buildings and the placement of official notices.

Odunlami urged Senator Daniel to appoint a representative to present the relevant building permits and planning documents to the proper authorities for review. “As we speak, Sen. Gbenga Daniel has yet to do so or make any representation to that effect,” he said.
He further reiterated that enforcement actions are part of routine urban management efforts aimed at maintaining order and ensuring compliance with physical planning regulations.
“These notices are not politically motivated or targeted,” the Commissioner said. “Our goal is not to victimise anyone. The law is applied uniformly, irrespective of the developer’s identity.”
Citing Section 73 of the state’s planning law, Odunlami noted that enforcement notices can be served even on developments that predate the enactment of the law. “The law applies to all developments, regardless of when they occurred,” he added.
The Commissioner called on all affected property owners across the state to respond appropriately and ensure they obtain the required approvals to avoid further enforcement action.
