Former Anambra State Governor and the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP),Mr Peter Obi ,has urged government at all levels, to allocate more funds to the education and health sectors, describing them as critical to the nation’s development.
In a statement shared on his X page today, Obi emphasised the need for the government to prioritise the country’s future by making substantial investments in the two sectors.
He made this appeal during a visit to the Madonna College of Health Technology in Olokoro, Abia State, and the Women Fellowship Pastoral Project in Umuahia.
He affirmed his commitment to champion the causes of education, healthcare, and poverty alleviation through consistent advocacy and support for these critical sectors.
“Madonna College of Health trains health professionals who will contribute, in many ways, to a better health sector in the nation.
“With our health sector in Nigeria suffering from severe shortage of health professionals, institutions like these that serve to bridge the gap by contributing immeasurably to the training of health professionals should be supported to do more”,he added.
Obi further urged the students to view themselves not only as academics but as vital contributors to national development and transformative agents working toward a better future for humanity.
“This, I believe, will help them make productive contributions to society. I appreciate the proprietor, the management, and the staff of the College for their good work. Together, we all will build the new Nigeria we all deserve. It is possible”, he stressed.
