An Indian group, Padiyath Healthcare, has revealed that the new health initiative to be executed in Nigeria will be a world-class cancer hospital in western Africa with an affordable cost.
The sum of $100 million has been proposed for investment in Nigeria’s healthcare sector.
The chairman of the group, Hazeeb Padiyath, made this known after Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Nigeria.
The aim of this investment is to provide quality and affordable healthcare across Africa.
As part of the long-term goal, Padiyath announced that the group of companies is set to commission Padiyath Mayfields Hospitals in Abuja.
The ongoing constructed hospital is a 300-bed tertiary care hospital at Suncity Estates, Galadimawa.
He stated that upon completion, it would become Nigeria’s largest private-sector hospital.
The investor noted that the hospital will be ready for operation by February 2025.
Addressing Modi, he highlighted the hospital’s incorporation of advanced diagnostic equipment, including a 3T MRI and a 256-slice CT Scan Machine—the first of its kind in West Africa.
Additionally, it will feature a cardiac cath lab, 24 super-speciality centres of excellence, a 25-bed intensive care unit, and an emergency department equipped with its operating theatre.
He explained that the third floor will house an operating theatre complex, designed to be crucial in saving lives during emergencies.
He also announced plans for Padiyath Cancare Hospitals in Abuja, a state-of-the-art 200-bed cancer institute.
Padiyath said, “This centre will be a full-fledged cancer hospital with equipment like a pet scan, linear accelerator, and Gamma knife.”
