The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and the German Embassy in Nigeria have agreed to strengthen their existing bilateral cooperation, focusing particularly on enhancing migration management, border governance, and security collaboration.
Comptroller-General of Immigration, Kemi Nandap hosted the German Ambassador to Nigeria, Annett Günther, and the First Secretary, Markus Sasse, yesterday at the NIS Headquarters in Abuja.

Günther praised the NIS for its sustained support in areas of migration synergy and shared security responsibilities.
She called for a renewed partnership in areas outlined in the existing memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two institutions, with a focus on migrant identification and management.
The ambassador also commended the NIS’s ongoing institutional transformation, highlighting its recent technology-driven innovations, such as the e-visa system, as a significant stride toward modern and efficient migration management.
In response, Nandap appreciated the visit and reaffirmed NIS’s commitment to collaboration with the German embassy on migrant identification.
She also acknowledged the warm reception and knowledge-sharing provided by the German government during her recent working visit to Germany for an advanced tour on border security and governance.

She reaffirmed its commitment to boosting bilateral engagements and enhancing cooperation in three core areas: capacity development, border governance, and Mmgration management, signalling a fortified commitment to security and efficient services.
