The Federal Government, FG, has declared Wednesday, October 1, 2025, as a public holiday to observe Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary.
The declaration was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government.

In his statement, the minister extended congratulations to all citizens residing both in Nigeria and abroad on this significant historical occasion.
Tunji-Ojo called on Nigerians to persist in upholding the “patriotic spirit, unity, and resilience that have sustained the nation since independence in 1960.”
He also urged citizens to “further keep faith in the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu“, an initiative that he noted is fundamentally anchored on national renewal, economic change, and collective wealth.
The minister expressed optimism that, through the cooperation of all Nigerians, the country would continue to flourish in terms of “peace, progress, and development.”
