The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has handed over donated items to the Jigawa State Government for the victims of the Majia Town tanker explosion in Taura LGA, Jigawa State.
The government agency stated that the donated items were intended to provide relief assistance to the affected individuals.
This development was shared through the government agency’s X handle on Wednesday.
The Head of NEMA’s Kano Territorial Office (KTO), representing the Director-General of NEMA, officially handed over the relief items to Governor Umar Namadi.
On behalf of Governor Namadi, the Commissioner of Budget and Planning, Babangida Gantsa, received the donated items.
Recall that on October 16, The New Daily Prime reported that about 105 people lost their lives in the tanker explosion that occurred on October 15 in Majia Town.
The statement read, “In response to the tragic tanker explosion in Majia Town, Taura Local Government Area, Jigawa State, which resulted in significant loss of lives and injuries, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has swiftly provided medical supplies, food, and non-food items to assist the affected individuals.”
The donated relief items included medical supplies, food, and non-food items.
Key figures present during the handover of the relief materials included the Executive Secretary of the Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), officials from NEMA KTO, Jigawa SEMA, and personnel from the Jigawa State Ministry of Health.
