The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Dutse Branch, has announced plans to deepen collaboration with the Jigawa State Police Command to enhance justice delivery, strengthen the rule of law, and ensure better protection of human rights across the state.
This was disclosed on Thursday by the Chairman of the NBA Dutse Branch, Barrister Umaru, during a courtesy visit to the Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, CP Dahiru Muhammad, at the State Police Headquarters in Dutse.
Barrister Umaru said the visit was aimed at promoting synergy between lawyers and law enforcement agencies, noting that both institutions share a fundamental responsibility to uphold justice and the rule of law.
He described the Nigeria Police Force as a crucial pillar of the criminal justice system, adding that renewed cooperation between the bar and the police would foster a more effective justice framework in Jigawa State.
Umaru also introduced the newly inaugurated executive members of the NBA Dutse Branch to the commissioner and revealed that the association had commenced visits to police formations across the state — from the State Criminal Investigation Department to divisional offices — to ensure compliance with human rights standards.
He commended CP Dahiru Muhammad for his commitment to intelligence-led policing, particularly recent successful raids on criminal hideouts that led to the arrest of drug dealers and the recovery of key evidence.

“Our approach as the Bar is collaborative, not confrontational,” Umaru said. “We seek to work with the police to promote justice, fairness, and accountability.”
In his response, CP Muhammad expressed appreciation for the visit and pledged the command’s continued respect for human rights and professionalism in its operations.
He emphasised that the fight against crime in Jigawa is closely tied to curbing drug abuse and trafficking, noting that the police will continue to intensify efforts in that direction.
“This partnership signals a proactive step toward resolving challenges in Jigawa’s justice system through mutual support,” the commissioner said, adding that such collaboration would lead to smoother prosecutions and stronger protection of citizens’ rights.
The meeting concluded with an interactive session and group photographs, symbolising a renewed alliance between the NBA and the Jigawa Police Command in advancing justice, peace, and security across the state.
