The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has handed over 11 victims of human trafficking to the Ringim Local Government Council of Jigawa State.
The handover took place during a meeting in Dutse on Sunday. The Jigawa State Commander of NAPTIP, Abdulkadir Turajo, said the victims were rescued by the agency’s operatives in Lokoja, Kogi State.

Turajo, who was represented by the Head of Operations, Mr. Yunusa Mohammed, disclosed that all the victims are male children aged between seven and 15 years. He said they hail from Tsaba, Kunkurawa and Tsabare villages in Ringim Local Government Area.
According to him, the handover process was facilitated by the Jigawa State Ministry for Local Government and Community Development, whose swift intervention ensured the prompt reunification of the children with their families.
The commander commended the Ringim Local Government Council and the ministry for their cooperation, and reaffirmed its commitment to combating human trafficking nationwide through victim identification, rescue, rehabilitation and reunification.
Receiving the children, the Chairman of Ringim Local Government Council, Badamasi Garba, praised NAPTIP for the successful rescue operation. Garba, represented by the council’s Director of Personnel Management, Alhaji Idana Isah, assured that the council would ensure the effective reintegration and rehabilitation of the children, while taking measures to prevent future cases of trafficking.
