Seventeen-year-old Nafisa Abdullah Aminu from Yobe State, Nigeria, has emerged as the best in the world in English language skills at the 2025 TeenEagle Global Finals held in London, United Kingdom.
Representing Nigeria through Nigerian Tulip International College, Yobe, Nafisa triumphed over 20,000 students from 69 countries, including those from native English-speaking nations. Her outstanding performance in the prestigious competition has brought immense pride to her school, her state, and the entire nation.
The TeenEagle competition, recognised globally for its rigorous academic standards, tests students on various aspects of English proficiency, communication, and critical thinking. Nafisa’s victory highlights not only her individual brilliance but also the growing strength of Nigerian education on the international stage.
In a statement issued by the head of the Aminu family, Hassan Salifu, the achievement was described as the result of “dedication, discipline, and the enabling support of the state government.”
“Our daughter’s global success would not have been possible without the visionary support for education by His Excellency, Governor Mai Mala Buni, whose efforts have brought international honour to our state and nation,” Salifu said.
The family also expressed deep appreciation to the management and staff of Nigerian Tulip International College for their commitment to academic excellence, which they credited for preparing Nafisa to succeed at the highest level.
They further called on both state and federal governments to formally honour Nafisa, stating her victory is proof that Nigerian students can compete — and win — on the global stage when given the right support and educational environment.
As congratulations pour in from across the country, Nafisa Aminu now stands as a beacon of what is possible when young talent meets opportunity, and when nations prioritise meaningful investment in youth and education.
