Thousands of security operatives have been deployed across Katsina State as preparations continue for the burial of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
According to the Katsina State Police Command, a robust security arrangement has been put in place in Daura and other strategic areas to ensure the funeral proceedings are conducted without incident.

The effort, which involves close collaboration with other security outfits under the leadership of AIG Zone 14, is being coordinated by Commissioner of Police, Bello Shehu.
The police extended heartfelt sympathies to the people and government of Katsina State, the late president’s family, and Nigerians at large.
In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Sadiq, the police also acknowledged Buhari’s lasting impact on national development.
In a similar vein, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has mobilised 2,807 personnel for the funeral operations.
The State Commandant, Aminu Datti, revealed the figure during a briefing with top officers at the NSCDC headquarters in Katsina.
Commandant General Abubakar Audi, who also mourned the former president, directed the comprehensive deployment of NSCDC operatives to safeguard lives and property throughout the mourning period.
Datti highlighted key aspects of the security plan, which include heightened surveillance, actionable intelligence gathering, engagement with local communities, and strong coordination with other security stakeholders.
Special units, departments, and tactical teams have been stationed at critical locations such as Daura, the Umar Musa Yar’adua International Airport, the royal palaces of the Emirs of Katsina and Daura, and other sensitive sites across the state.

Both uniformed and plain-clothed operatives have been tasked with protecting public infrastructure in all 34 local government areas of Katsina.
The NSCDC commandant urged all deployed personnel to maintain a high level of professionalism and ensure smooth collaboration with sister agencies to guarantee security throughout the burial events.
