Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has credited the ongoing wave of defections by governors, senators, and other prominent politicians to the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the reform agenda of President Bola Tinubu.
Speaking on Monday in Lafia during a ceremony to welcome Senator Ahmed Wadada back to the APC from the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Governor Sule said Tinubu’s policies are resonating across political divides and attracting widespread support.
“I want to specifically, at this moment, congratulate our President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. It is because of the good reforms he is bringing in — and courageous ones, for that matter — that today, every time the progressive governors go to a meeting, we are welcoming another governor into our party,” Sule stated.
He revealed that at a recent meeting in Kebbi State, Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah joined the APC, with other governors also reportedly in the process of defecting.
“The governors who are sitting, who are the leaders of their states, are seeing exactly what is happening in the country, and they are running back into our party. Not necessarily for them to win elections — they are running back because they align themselves with the policies of Mr. President,” he added.
Sule went on to commend Senator Wadada, who represents the Nasarawa West Senatorial District, for his decision to rejoin the APC, assuring him and his supporters of equal opportunities within the party.
“I want to congratulate Distinguished Senator Wadada because if he so wished, he could still stay in his own party and be able to challenge us. But he decided to join us. I thank you for believing in our party,” the governor said, symbolically handing Wadada the APC’s broom emblem.

Also speaking at the event, the APC Chairman in Nasarawa State, Aliyu Bello, assured new and returning members of a level playing field ahead of the 2027 general elections. He emphasised that the party would support only credible and widely accepted candidates.
Bello praised Governor Sule’s leadership, highlighting his contributions in security, education, and healthcare as key reasons for the party’s growing popularity.
Meanwhile, Senator Wadada expressed gratitude to his supporters from the SDP and other opposition parties for following him back to the APC. He reaffirmed his loyalty to Governor Sule and urged the administration to continue its peace-building efforts.
“Our supporters are here in their numbers, not only because Wadada called them. No matter how much they love Wadada, if the state was not in peace… we would not have been able to be here,” he said.
To support the APC’s grassroots mobilisation ahead of 2027, Senator Wadada donated 18 vehicles to party executives across the senatorial zones and local government areas in Nasarawa State.
