The Ondo State Command of the Western Nigeria Security Network (WBSN), codenamed Amotekun has arrested a family of seven for allegedly looting food items from shops and houses.
Disclosing this at the corps’ headquarters in Akure, the Ondo capital, the Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye said the suspects, John Avor, 42, his wife, Mary, and their five children, two of whom are minors, were apprehended for stealing bags of rice from an orphanage home in Shagari village.
He said, “We have apprehended a family of robbers comprising the husband, wife and the children that specialize in breaking into houses.
“We are parading only the father, mother, and two boys among the five children because three of them are minors. They stole the bags of rice from an orphanage at Shagari village in Akure.”
The family also allegedly emptied a building filled with bags of rice belonging to a pensioner in the same area overnight.
The father, during interrogation, claimed that he was a gateman and blamed his actions on the devil.
He said the children helped him because he promised to buy things for them after selling the rice.
