Lakurawa terrorists flee Kebbi as troops intensify onslaught

With the troops of the Nigerian military intensifying their onslaught against the newly formed terrorist group, Lakurawa, its members have fled the Kebbi and Sokoto states.

Since the emergence of the group, troops have continued to ramp up coordinated ground and air operations against the activities of the terrorists in the Northwest region.

Recall that the armed group had attacked residents of Mera community in Augie Local Government Area of Kebbi State in the past week.
Not less than 17 people lost their lives during the attack leading to the military sending a contingent of soldiers to the area.

The troops upon arriving at the local government had a meeting with the deputy governor of Kebbi State, Umar Tafida at the Cabinet Office before proceeding to Mera.

Idris Zuru, the media aide to the state governor said the troops succeeded in dislodging the bandits.

He added that they also recovered several rustled cattle left behind as the attackers fled.

“The governor has pledged to safeguard the lives and property of all Kebbi State citizens, leading him to seek federal government’s intervention to counter-terrorism across the state,” Zuru said.
