The Lagos State Government (LASG) has inaugurated executive members to chair the women’s agricultural initiative for the empowerment and enhancement of female farmers in the state.

Revealing the launch of this initiative through the government platform, the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) said the Women in Agriculture Cooperative aims to address poverty within the state.

According to the post shared yesterday, the event was held on Thursday at the Women Development Centre, Agege.

Highlighting the commitment of the state government, the notice disclosed that LASG seeks to equip women with the tools, training, and financial resources necessary to succeed in Nigeria’s agricultural sector.

The speaker during the inauguration, the Commissioner for WAPA, Mrs. Bolaji Dada, acknowledged the significance of women in the agricultural industry.

She added that the female-led initiative focuses on productivity, fosters financial independence, and enhances the welfare of families across Lagos State, with a lot to be benefitted from the programme.

Other objectives to be benefitted by participants include skills development in sustainable farming practices, access to market opportunities, and a platform for community and government support.

While expressing gratitude to stakeholders and organizers, she explained the initiative’s goal, noting that it aims to drive economic growth and strengthen communities across the state.
