The Lagos State Government is set to collaborate with the international non-governmental organisation, Time for Africa Foundation, to advance sustainable community development initiatives.
This partnership will focus on key sectors including health, finance, education, and social empowerment, utilizing technology, artificial intelligence, and machine learning to improve service delivery.
The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Finance, Abayomi Oluyomi, during a meeting with officials of the foundation.

He stated that the partnership aligns with the state’s THEMES Plus Agenda, which prioritizes education, technology, health, environment, strategic innovation, and inclusive growth.
Oluyomi also revealed that Lagos State is preparing to launch a Green Bond, making it the first sub-national entity in Nigeria to issue such a climate-focused investment instrument.
The bond aims to fund climate-resilient infrastructure projects in sectors such as health, the environment, and housing.
He noted that this landmark move, along with other financial innovations like the securitization of state assets, is helping to drive Lagos’s growth as one of Africa’s largest economies.
In the meeting, other commissioners highlighted ongoing initiatives in their respective fields.
The Commissioner for Health, Akin Abayomi, discussed the use of AI for data management and the push for localized medical solutions.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Bolaji Dada, detailed various empowerment programs for women and vulnerable groups, including skill acquisition and startup support.
The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, reaffirmed the state’s commitment to free education and the reintegration of out-of-school children, citing collaborations with international bodies like UNICEF and the World Bank.

Abiodun Olushola, the founder of the foundation, praised Lagos State’s visionary policies and expressed the foundation’s eagerness to invest and provide support through international partnerships and training.
