The Lagos State Cultural Mission has received a boost with new international partnerships from the Chinese and Indian diplomatic missions in Lagos.
This comes after a recent meeting between the Special Adviser to the state governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Idris Aregbe, and the Consuls General of China and India.
The initiative, led by Aregbe, aims to foster global collaboration and promote the state’s rich cultural heritage.

During discussions with China’s Consul General, Yan Yuqing, and India’s Consul General, Chandramouli Kern, Aregbe described the Lagos Cultural Mission as “a legacy in motion” focused on preserving the state’s identity and projecting its unique values.
According to Aregbe, the talks centred on leveraging cultural exchange to drive mutual growth and strengthen historical ties.
Aregbe highlighted the potential for joint cultural ventures to create “meaningful results” for all nations involved.
Both Consuls General expressed their support for the Lagos Cultural Mission’s vision.
Yan Yuqing of the Chinese Consulate pledged the Chinese community’s backing for the initiative’s goals.
Similarly, India’s Consul General, Chandramouli Kern, emphasised the importance of deepening cultural ties between Nigeria and India.
The meetings ended with an agreement on the need to promote shared values through cultural initiatives, which Aregbe stated are essential for boosting tourism and economic development.

“Our shared commitment is aimed at boosting the tourism economy,” he said, affirming the mission’s goal to elevate the appeal of Lagos.
