In preparation for the 2025 Hajj exercise in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Lagos State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced the vaccination of intending pilgrims across various local government areas.
The exercise began on Wednesday, April 16, at the Shamsi Adisa Thomas (SAT) Mosque Hall in GRA, Ikeja.
The vaccination covers protection against polio, meningitis, and yellow fever—key requirements for international travel. Intending pilgrims from Agege, Amuwo Odofin, Badagry, and Mushin LGAs were the first to receive their shots.
The schedule for other local government areas spans several days, ending on Monday, April 28 with government officials and outstanding pilgrims.
Speaking on the development, the Board Secretary, AbdulHakeem Ajomagberin, urged all intending pilgrims to adhere to the vaccination timetable for their respective LGAs.

He also noted that officials from the Port Health Service, under the Federal Ministry of Health, will issue Yellow Cards to vaccinated individuals.
To further enhance preparations, the state government has set up a 13-member central working committee, chaired by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Islamic Matters, Ahmad Abdullahi Jebe.
The committee is tasked with overseeing the success of the Hajj operation both in Nigeria and in the Holy Land.
Ajomagberin disclosed that 21 Schedule Officers have also been appointed to coordinate activities across local government areas, ensuring pilgrims’ welfare and comfort throughout the pilgrimage.
Each member of the central committee will head sub-committees focused on critical aspects of the Hajj exercise.
These include transportation, medical services, security, accommodation, baggage handling, airlifting, and sensitisation.
Notable members and their roles include Shakiru Ayinde Gafar (Muna, Madinah, and Arafah), Faosat Dabiri (Medical), and Waheed Shonibare (Airlifting and Manifest), among others.
