The Kwara State Government has highlighted its key achievements in the health sector for the second quarter of 2024, including the renovation of primary healthcare centres, procurement of advanced medical equipment, and the training of healthcare workers, among other initiatives.
In a statement by the Ministry of Health’s Press Secretary Falade Gbenga, the Commissioner, Amina Ahmed El-Imam, detailed these accomplishments during the quarterly inter-ministerial press briefing held last week at the Kwara State Ministry of Finance, Ilorin.
The Commissioner outlined completed projects such as the renovation of primary healthcare centres in Tanke, Ilorin South, and Mawokpan in Edu LGA, as well as the renovation of the General Hospital in Afon, Asa LGA.
She also mentioned the construction of a slab at the Primary Healthcare Center in Alanamu, Ilorin West.
El-Imam further noted that several projects are nearing completion, including the renovation of the primary healthcare centre at Ojagboro, the structural expansion of Adewole Cottage Hospital in Ilorin, the renovation of the Eye Clinic at Sobi Specialist Hospital, the refurbishment of the Cottage Hospital in Ilorin, and the construction of the Civil Service Hospital in GRA, Ilorin, all of which are 95% complete.
Additionally, the Commissioner revealed that the State Government has procured vital medical equipment for various healthcare facilities to enhance the efficiency of healthcare delivery across the state.
She also commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his support in paying the 2024 Medical Residency Training Fund to Resident Doctors and for approving free medical and surgical outreaches across all sixteen Local Government Areas, ensuring that the less privileged have access to essential healthcare services.
