According to Aminullahi Taiye AbdulRahman, the Head of the Hotels Department at KWEPA, the hotels were given sufficient time to rectify their status but ignored the agency’s directives.
Speaking from the KWEPA headquarters, General Manager Jide Aina clarified that the action was taken in accordance with the Kwara State Environmental Law.
He emphasised that the goal was not to target businesses but to enforce public health standards and curb environmental infractions.
“This is not about targeting businesses but about ensuring that hospitality operators adhere to both local and international standards,” Aina said, noting that a clean, safe, and healthy environment is a top priority for the state government.
He added that enforcing compliance protects residents, promotes public health, and fosters an attractive environment for both investors and tourists.
KWEPA restated its dedication to working with hospitality stakeholders to promote sustainable development.
