The Kogi State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajia Fatimah Momoh, has called on stakeholders and policymakers to rally support for the passage of the bill seeking special seats for women in the National Assembly (NA).
She made the appeal during a meeting of the Gender Equality and Women Empowerment (GEWE) structure convened in Lokoja by the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.
The meeting brought together key stakeholders and technical partners focused on promoting gender equality, uplifting vulnerable groups, and supporting individuals with disabilities.
Momoh emphasised that increasing the representation of women in legislative processes is critical to achieving meaningful and inclusive development in Nigeria.
According to her, the bill for special seats is a vital step towards correcting gender imbalance in governance and ensuring that women have a stronger voice in national decision-making.
