The Kano State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) to advance sustainable development in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and rural development.
Governor Abba Yusuf made the pledge during a courtesy visit by the IsDB’s Vice President (Operations), Rami Ahmad, to Government House, Kano yesterday.

Speaking through his deputy, Comrade Aminu Gwarzo, Yusuf emphasised the state’s resolve to work closely with the IsDB to drive progress.
“Our administration is determined to collaborate with the Islamic Development Bank to accelerate growth, create opportunities, and improve the living standards of our people,” Gwarzo said, highlighting potential investments in key sectors.
Gwarzo commended the IsDB’s global efforts, noting Kano’s status as a major beneficiary in Nigeria.
He praised the state Agro-Pastoral Development Project (KSADP), which has delivered milk collection centers, abattoirs, roads, and other infrastructure, advancing the state’s development agenda.
The deputy governor presented a letter of appreciation to Ahmad, assuring the Bank of Kano’s support for the successful execution of its projects.
Ahmad, in his remarks, praised the state government’s vision and pledged continued support. “Kano remains a strategic partner for the Islamic Development Bank in Nigeria.
We are committed to supporting projects that will have a lasting impact on the people,” he said.

The visit follows recent regional engagements with the IsDB, including Uganda’s $800m financing deal and Jigawa’s talks for a $50m agriculture investment, signaling the Bank’s growing role in supporting development across Africa.
