Former President Goodluck Jonathan has extended his heartfelt condolences to Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State following the tragic death of his son, Abdulwahab, who passed away in a car accident just 24 hours after the governor lost his mother, Maryam Namadi.
In a statement issued on Friday, December 27, in Abuja, Jonathan expressed his profound sadness over the double tragedy, describing the losses as shocking and deeply painful.
“I convey my deepest condolences to you and your family over the tragic loss of your beloved mother and son within such a short period. I am profoundly saddened by this devastating news, and my thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time,” Jonathan said.
Reflecting on the irreplaceable nature of both losses, the former president remarked, “Losing a cherished mother is an irreplaceable loss, as is the untimely demise of a beloved son. I cannot imagine the depth of pain you must be enduring.”
Jonathan prayed for divine strength and comfort for the governor and his family.
Abdulwahab, 24, died in a road accident on Thursday, December 26, while en route to Kafin-Hausa Local Government Area of Jigawa State to offer condolences over the death of his grandmother, Maryam Namadi, who had been buried just a day earlier.
The double loss has drawn widespread sympathy and condolences from across Nigeria, with many describing the events as deeply sorrowful.
Several governors from Nigeria’s North-East region have also expressed their sympathies, highlighting the gravity of the governor’s loss.
